The Journal of Productivity and Community Development is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the COPE’s Code of Conduct & Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and COPE’s Core Practices. These frameworks ensure the integrity, accountability, and transparency of the journal’s operations, fostering trust and credibility in the dissemination of scholarly work.
The following outlines the ethical responsibilities and expectations of all parties involved in the publication process, including the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, Editors, Reviewers, Authors, and Publisher.
Roles of the Editor-in-Chief
- Oversee the overall editorial process and ensure the integrity of the journal’s content.
- Make final decisions on manuscript acceptance or rejection, guided by the journal’s policies and ethical standards.
- Ensure that the peer review process is fair, transparent, and free of bias.
- Address ethical concerns or allegations of misconduct promptly and in accordance with COPE guidelines.
- Promote diversity and inclusivity in editorial decisions and the peer review process.
Roles of the Managing Editor
- Coordinate communication between authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure an efficient and timely editorial process.
- Ensure that submitted manuscripts adhere to the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines.
- Oversee the technical aspects of the journal’s publication, including plagiarism checks and compliance with licensing policies.
- Assist the Editor-in-Chief in handling ethical concerns and maintaining records of all editorial decisions.
Responsibilities of the Editors
- Ensure that manuscripts are evaluated solely based on academic merit, without discrimination based on the author’s gender, race, religion, nationality, or affiliation.
- Assign qualified reviewers to manuscripts based on their expertise and ensure a rigorous peer review process.
- Maintain confidentiality of all manuscript information during and after the review process.
- Identify and address any conflicts of interest and ensure transparency in editorial decisions.
- Support authors in improving the quality of their submissions by providing constructive feedback.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback to assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
- Maintain confidentiality and avoid discussing the manuscript with anyone outside the editorial team.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves if necessary.
- Refrain from using unpublished material from reviewed manuscripts for personal advantage.
- Ensure that their reviews are free of any bias or unsubstantiated criticism.
Responsibilities of Authors
- Ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, not plagiarized, and have not been published elsewhere.
- Provide accurate and complete references to prior work and acknowledge all contributors.
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest and financial support related to their research.
- Respond promptly to editorial feedback and make necessary revisions in a timely manner.
- Report any errors or inaccuracies discovered in their published work and cooperate with the journal to issue corrections or retractions if necessary.
Responsibilities of the Publisher
- Ensure that the journal operates in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
- Support the editorial team in maintaining the integrity of the publication process.
- Address any ethical concerns or allegations of misconduct in collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief.
- Ensure the journal’s content is freely accessible under the open-access model, in compliance with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).
- Provide necessary resources and infrastructure to maintain the quality and sustainability of the journal.
